Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about converting numbers to words

Do I need to sign up or log in to use this tool?

No. All QuickTextTools are completely free to use online with no login, signup, or account required.

What is the largest number this tool can convert?

The tool supports numbers up to 999 quadrillion (999,999,999,999,999,999). It handles integers, negative numbers and decimals up to two decimal places.

What is the currency mode used for?

Currency mode converts a number into the format used on cheques, legal documents and invoices — for example 1234.56 becomes 'one thousand two hundred thirty-four dollars and fifty-six cents only'. You can select from 10 major world currencies including USD, EUR, GBP, INR and more.

What is ordinal mode?

Ordinal mode converts a number into its ordinal word form — for example 1 becomes 'first', 2 becomes 'second', 21 becomes 'twenty-first'. This is useful for ranking, positions and numbered lists.

What is year mode?

Year mode converts a number in the way years are spoken in English — for example 1999 becomes 'nineteen ninety-nine' and 2001 becomes 'twenty oh one'. This differs from standard number reading.

Does the tool support negative numbers and decimals?

Yes. Negative numbers are prefixed with 'negative'. Decimal mode reads each digit after the decimal point individually — for example 3.14 becomes 'three point one four'. Currency mode reads the decimal as subunits such as cents or paise.

Which currencies are supported?

The tool supports USD (dollars), EUR (euros), GBP (pounds), INR (rupees), JPY (yen), CAD (Canadian dollars), AUD (Australian dollars), CHF (francs), CNY (yuan) and AED (dirhams). Each currency uses the correct subunit name.

Can I download all the conversion results?

Yes. Click the Download All button to save all five conversion formats — Standard, Currency, Ordinal, Year and Decimal — as a plain text file.
